Next week’s Staysure Tour Q-School in Portugal will be divided into the haves, and the have-nots.

Competitors who have a SkyCaddie SX500 or SX400 GPS rangefinder will have accurate yardages to all pin positions, lay-ups, run-outs, fairway ends and hazards on the golf course – whether or not they are visible to the naked eye.

The have-nots will simply have to try and laser to whatever they can see, or use a paper yardage book if it’s available.

“With more than half of the 2019 Staysure Tour field using a SkyCaddie rangefinder, speeding up play with instant yardages, the signs are clear – SkyCaddie GPS helps your chances” said SkyCaddie’s James Holmes.

“With six wins to date on the Staysure Tour since late 2018, when we launched the SkyCaddie SX500, and with four of the top six finishers in 2019’s Order Of Merit using SkyCaddie GPS, we are expecting another rapid increase in usage this season.

“We wish all players next week good luck, and encourage them to use a SkyCaddie for total coverage of every hole – including blind shots.”

But just five of next week’s Q-School competitors will get a card.

For the 20th consecutive year, the Staysure Tour (formerly European Senior Tour) Qualifying School returns to Pestana Golf Resort in Portugal next week. From January 23rd – 30th, hundreds of hopefuls will compete for just five cards on the 2020 Staysure Tour.

SkyCaddie’s on-foot mapping team has already visited Portugal to update data for all courses being used – and each day’s exact pin locations can be uploaded by competitors who have a SkyCaddie.

In late 2019, Staysure Tour tournament directors began to use SkyCaddie’s exclusive GPS course data to set the pins and produce competitors’ pin sheets for championship events.

2019 double-winner on the Staysure Tour, Ormskirk GC’s David Shacklady, said: “The SkyCaddie SX500 gives me yardages which are impossible to get with a laser. I use it on all tee shots, and it also gives me complete green information for my approach shots.”

The SkyCaddie SX500 and the brand-new, compact SX400 are available now from PGA professional shops and golf retailers for RRP £379.95 and RRP £299.95 respectively.
