The busy calendar of golfing events for the Rolls-Royce PTF Society continued in early August with 28 members making this year’s ‘Weekend Away’ trip for a stay in Llandudno.
Blessed with some dry, sunny weather at last the lads enjoyed another memorable weekend both on and off the course in Wales where 2024’s Captain Chris Boffey dominated the golfing action with 33 points to win the opening ‘Friday Fiver’ prize money amongst the dunes at a blustery but impressive Prestatyn GC.
Chris continued where he left off into the Saturday at North Wales GC holing his 6-iron approach on the tricky 1st hole for Eagle on the way to scoring a brilliant 36 points to win the weekends main event the ‘Tourist Trophy’. The stunning ‘links’ is amongst the best courses we’ve played with the stand-out holes which run alongside Penforma Beach having stunning views over the Conwy estuary and the back-to-back ‘signature’ Par 3 16th & 17th holes which are played across each other amongst the dunes
The closing event, at the picturesque ‘parkland’ of Abergele GC which is set in the grounds of Gwrych Castle and famously hosted ‘I’m A Celebrity’ in 2020/2021, was won by Society stalwart Clive ‘Ding-Dong’ Bell who pocketed the ‘Sunday Stab’ loot with a solid 34 points
