Just two miles from Northampton town centre this family owned heathland course, built in 1995, is the county’s busiest golf centre and celebrating it’s silver anniversary this year. Maturing all the time it has become a very popular venue for the nomadic golfer and golf societies as well as its burgeoning population of members. All are attracted to the club by its range of facilities and most importantly, the all year round playability. We’ve had a rotten winter for sure but BHGC has coped with it better than most.
The course benefits from a fantastic sandy soil base and natural drainage with a reputation as one of the best winter courses in the Midlands. When many local neighbouring clubs are closed or using temporary greens, Brampton is available, using full tees and greens for play throughout the winter. Trolleys and buggies are also always available unless snow covered.
Overlooking the Northampton Skyline the course provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities, with a mix of long and short holes. The putting surfaces are excellent, pacey and true with a variety of pin positions across the sizeable greens.
One of the great things at Brampton Heath is that there are constant course improvements being made year on year to ensure that the course always retains a mixture of challenge and charm. There have been several new tees created this season and a new water feature on the tricky par three 7th hole. The water feature between the 9th and 18th also provides a tremendous yet tricky finish to each loop of 9 and a lovely backdrop for a drink in the 19th after your round.
Brampton Heath is a 27 hole venue with a 9 hole short course to test your scoring game. Kept to the same high standards as the 18 hole course the Par 3 course is used regularly by county squads and professionals for practice, as well as beginners as a first class venue for learning. An 18 bay driving range allows you the chance to warm up before your game after the bacon rolls!
The clubhouse has recently seen a big investment and has undergone a large extension to provide new mens and ladies changing rooms, as well as function rooms that can be used by visiting groups and societies. In the spike bar they offer a selection of drinks and home cooked meals and snacks. Up to 140 golfers can be catered for in the Cranshaw Suite overlooking the finishing holes.
