I started work in 1982 at Handsworth Golf Course spending 6 years there whilst taking my City and Guilds in turf management at Askham Bryan College in York, after taking a few years out at a factory.

I returned to greenkeeping at Widney Manor Golf Club, after a brief spell there I moved to my spiritual home of Lickey Hills Golf Course, where I’ve been for 21 years.

I would class myself as an old school greenkeeper. On trips to America I’ve visited Pebble Beach and Sawgrass and had a good walk around both, I’ve also worked at the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth.

In my spare time I work as a groundsman at Aston Villa on match days and act in murder mysteries… keeps me busy.
