The DERBYSHIRE FUTURES TOUR 2018 has been a roaring success yet again with 80 participants under the age of 14, including 22 girls, taking part in the 9-hole series across Derbyshire.
This year, three of the events were run as fun, team Florida scrambles where the beginner golfers were working together in groups. The relaxed team format proved to be very popular; developing the young golfer’s friendships and decision-making skills, along with building their confidence with less pressure on individual performance. The addition of these team scrambles to compliment the Order of Merit events provided an exciting selection of events through the summer. Another highlight of the year was the involvement of ex- Futures Tour players who acted as true role models, helping on the first tee, scoring, ball spotting and running skills challenges on competition days. Their passion to support the events has shown how brilliantly the junior golf pathway in Derbyshire is developing.

The final event took place at Marriott Breadsall Priory, on Sunday 7th October. The enthusiasm from the players and support from young volunteers on the day created a wonderful atmosphere to round the season off. This was a huge celebration of Derbyshire junior golf which families, friends, and players enjoyed thoroughly. Prizes were provided throughout the season by our fantastic sponsor Chinnydipper, and the Golf Foundation were also generous with providing golf balls for the winners.
Alice Lowe the organiser, and Derbyshire County Golf, would like to thank all the helpers, clubs, players and their families for making it such a great tour for Derbyshire junior golfers.
