Phil and Mandy took a little trip off the beaten track to discover one of the region’s finest and most beautiful nine green / eighteen hole golf locations. Founded in 1894, Evesham Golf Club is one of the older and more mature members of the Worcestershire golfing set.

Since the Club’s inception, the course continues to change and provides a fair, but testing challenge for players of all abilities. A gorgeous looking course situated snugly between the A44 Worcester/Evesham road and the winding River Avon. With spectacular views across to the western edge of the Cotswolds, Bredon Hill, The Vale of Evesham as well of course, the River Avon, the sights alone will have you wanting for more.

There are many great things to say about the Evesham Golf Club, and there are several real standouts for us.

  • As mentioned, the views are wonderful, and on a lovely summer’s evening you could just sit on the top of the hill looking over the Avon and feel at peace.

  • The greens are an absolute delight. They are true and very pacey, thanks apparently to the dedication of the relatively new Greens team in making them so special. They have many subtle and not so subtle slopes. If you miss a putt, you will not be able to blame the greens!
  • Predominantly this is a parkland course, with mature, tree lined fairways, placing an emphasis on the need for accuracy. The course drains well even in very wet conditions.
  • The signature hole is affectionately known as the River Hole / Avon Calling! No guessing where this is located. A long 442 yard par 4 on the front 9 and a 498 yard par 5 on the second 9, following the curves of the river along its length. There is also a brook winding along the right of the hole that then heads diagonally across the fairway! With plenty of wildlife around, the gentle tones of lapping waves and the riverboat traffic that runs along, this is truly a lovely spot.
  • Do not be mislead into thinking that this is just a nine hole course, played twice. The two nines are very different and offer very different challenges. Par 5’s become 4’s, 3’s become 4’s.
  • We were made to feel very welcome!

When you have completed your round, unwind looking out across the course and enjoying the recently refurbished bar area! A comfortable place to enjoy your refreshments and a meal or a snack.
