The day dawned on 20th September, and the Penn A ladies started their journey towards the culmination of their season’s play, the final of the Taskers interclub competition. As they neared Beeston Fields GC, Nottingham, the anticipation and nerves were high, but we were determined to enjoy ourselves, and we certainly did!
Early team photos were followed by tee offs against Rushcliffe GC and more photos. Rushcliffe were a lovely team to play and after a good start from Penn the remaining games were all very tight. It all resulted in an overall win and the Burtoft Trophy for Penn A! Onto the bar and the meal, both excellent, as was the presentation – all really well done!
At this point I should let you know that the team were off to Spain at 2.30 am and we left Beeston at about 10.00 pm – did anyone care? Not a bit!
Penn would like to thank Beeston Fields for an amazing day on a lovely course, a very enjoyable meal and a warm welcome. Big thanks must go to Taskers and Blair for their continued support and organisation of the competitions. Their contributions to junior golf can only be lauded, and the generosity shown at the presentation, meal and contribution to the club’s junior section is fantastic.
We would also like to thank Rushcliffe and all the other teams that we came up against for all season for the superb spirit in which the games were played – all most enjoyable! Now we can’t wait for next year!
So, all in all – a wonderful day out!
