Formerly the UAB (Urban Arts Bar) golf society established in 2011 and based at the Lord Cliffden pubs in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

Following a change in ownership of the Pub group, the society changed its name to the R&T golf GS to commemorate two of our founding members who had sadly passed away, Steve Randle and Nigel Tonks.

The society plays six match days a year as well as a knockout cup competition among our current 18 members, with points earned for each match day contributing to the award of ‘Golfer of the Year’. There are also the standard nearest the pin and longest drive competitions on each match day.

Since its inception, the society have played over 50 local courses within an hour’s drive of the centre of Birmingham.

The most recent two matchdays being an enjoyable dry September day at South Staffordshire Golf club in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, (pictured here.) The winner was Paul Hentrich with 33 stableford points, playing off his internal society handicap of 27. The final event of 2025 was at Atherstone in October with Peter Clare the winner with 40 points.

Paul Hentrich won the annual golfer of the year award with Toby Smith runner up. The society’s cup competition final was played at Hollywood Golf Club in October with Phil Clarke triumphing on the 18th hole over Brian Findlay.

The Society look forward to playing at magazine featured clubs next year.
