October 4TH saw our Autumn mixed Am-Am held at Ardencote Manor. Our traditional danishes and bubbly, a trademark of our mixed events prepared our teams as they stepped out to brave the elements, which ended up being very kind to us. The shotgun start was animated by Henry, resident Director of Golf as he escorted all the groups to their respective tees.
Our drinks, registration and subsequent dinner were held in the Lodge separate from the main hotel and what a lovely setting overlooking a lake with a balcony.
And what a meal, I have to say we were treated like royalty and for those who stayed over, all enjoyed the accommodation and the spa facilities – we all had a wonderful time.
It was great to see our regulars from 3 Hammers Ladies Love Golf academy, the course is perfect for new golfers. A welcome to ‘Codd& Chix’ a fourball team from Altrincham, Mottram Hall and Disley golf clubs. They passed the initiation with flying colours and are now bona fide members of the MGALS.
Ardencote’s newly refurbished spa was a great hit and I thank them for being so accommodating and supplying us with our first prize of a round of golf for four followed by high tea.
Congratulations go to winners Chris and Caroline Bates with Paul Spooner who will bring his wife as his guest. As is tradition, Phil our editor who was also on the team was unable to accept the prize, so we were happy to let Paul step in.
2nd prize of a fourball to Horsley Lodge was won by Jenny Cordon and her son Richard, Jenny Smale and Mike Andrews.
3rd prize went to Anastasia Codd, Sue Gaffney, Janice Darcy and Leigh Duffy, our Cheshire girls who won four Fenix shirts.
Thanks also go to Brewin Dolphin for the nearest the pin prizes of 4 x Pro V presentation boxes.
The theme will continue into 2020 with spring and autumn events and I am now looking to host them in Derbyshire and Worcestershire. So ladies if you have a favourite hotel and golf resort you wish to visit, let me know.
