For all types of golfers high or low handicaps and even the Sunday afternoon whackers.

The Leicestershire Golf Society has over 220 members at present, all part of a Facebook group from where the society is run by organiser Matt March ever since their inception just 18 months ago. The above headline is the first thing you see on the page. They are constantly growing and meet for monthly weekend games all year round at a range of Midlands venues, many in Leicestershire but a few in other counties too.

Among the 2024 events already in the diary, a three-day inter-society Ryder Cup weekend in May at Lakeside Lodge Golf & Country Club in Huntingdon. Then the following month they host their Blesma charity day at Scraptoft in aid of limbless veterans. For this one, the members taking part are playing 54 holes.

A full group photo will appear in a future issue and online. The one we had planned for this issue was supposed to have been taken at Stratford Oaks in October, but storm Babet put paid to that. The group will be back in Stratford, weather permitting for the re-arranged game in January.

The group are always on the lookout for new members. Full details are on the Facebook group for which interested golfers are welcomed to join in with. Search for Leicestershire Golf Society in groups.
