Early September saw the Potteries International Golf Society (PIGS) making a trip to Forest Pines Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort near Lincoln for our annual golf society tour.
This was our first visit to this part of the country and after five days of great fun, it left us all wanting more.
We had 22 guys that embraced the occasion and went the extra mile to provide us all with some great memories of our 21st annual golf tour which we called ‘Coronation Tour 2023,’ dedicated to King Charles III.
Visiting Lincoln was fabulous with some of the guys taking in a visit to their beautiful cathedral. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, especially down by the river. We always strike it lucky with the weather on our annual trips and this year was no exception – so hot for three days, making the golf such a joy.
The hotel was very good, and we all agreed that it was a venue that we must return to in the not too distant future, fabulous facilities and lovely food. The golf course consisted of three loops of nine holes with all the fairways lined with trees and great views. At the end of three rounds, we had two players, Gareth Pask and Kevin Sromek who finished on 104 stableford points to share our flagship event – the Tour Championship, (pic 2)
We also ran a strokeplay competition for the lower handicappers and again, for the very first time in 21 years we had two players coming in with 272 strokes over the three rounds – Philip Smith and Richie Abell (pic 3). We all had a great time and look forward to next year when we visit Herons Reach Hotel and Golf Resort in Blackpool.
