Walsall Golf Club on Sunday Sept 17th and on the following Tuesday saw a different format for the ladies section as 2023 ladies captain Stephanie Haynes liaised with competitions organiser Gill Pinnegar to enjoy a Solheim Cup themed competition.

It was matchplay over 9 holes on each day so that all members who had other commitments on one of the days could all join in. One of our ladies, Judith Sanders baked some delicious cakes with flags on, either Europe or USA to enjoy after their game of golf.

Everyone entered into the spirit of the day wearing colours of USA or Europe. The presentation for the winning team was on the following Tuesday.

Europe won overall with the team captain being club vice-captain and incoming captain for 2024, Estelle Thomas. We had a really great turn out and everyone embraced the theme. Val Henwood, pictured on the putting green and dressed in USA colours has just returned back to golf after a big operation and she really enjoyed the day.

Pictured below are three of our competing ladies, Tracy Knight, Emma White and Maria Carter.
