At the end of November, eight members of our golf society, The Potteries International GS, took themselves off to Villamartin, Spain for a five-day winter break.

The weather was just fabulous, giving us all the opportunity of a little sun on our backs as we played golf at Villamartin Golf Club and La Finca Golf Club. The two courses were in great condition. Two days golfing and two days sampling the local beers and brandy – what more could you ask for.

We stopped in two apartments in Villamartin nicknamed the Upper and Lower houses, from which came the traditional competitive rivalry for being the “Best Golf House.” Honours were shared so there were no bragging rights for the winners to take home (Thank goodness – 12 months is a long time to wait to put the record straight!)

So, there we were, in Spain, playing golf, watching World Cup football, hitting the bars and restaurants, walking the beaches, and enjoying banter with our golfing friends – could it get any better?  I don’t think so, but we will be having another bash at it, by doing it all again, next November. It just has to be done!!
