HENLLYS GOLF CLUB – 1996 (Roger Jones)
A parkland venue with a rolling landscape and occasional sea views, situated in the upland outskirts of Beaumaris, just as you get into Anglesey.
The course was opened in 1996 within the grounds of the old Henllys estate which was refurbished at the time with new accommodation, leisure facilities and a modern golf clubhouse.
A lovely and peaceful golf course awaits you with occasional water hazards, one that packs in lots of variety and tests your accuracy and club selection skills around every tree-lined corner.
The early and latter holes offer spectacular views over the Menai Straits and over to Snowdonia on a clear day.
The mid-round stretch takes you inland and eventually reaches a wonderful little loop from 11 to 13 right in the far corner of the course where the looks and feel turn into something more akin to a Scottish glen, lovely.

In the midst of this special stretch is this gently undulating challenge, heading towards a distant pine surrounded green with a tricky pond to threaten on the right-hand side.

Henllys is great for group golfing deals and societies are welcomed seven days of the week. The fully licensed clubhouse serves a range of hot and cold meals, all times of the day.

Crossing the Menai Bridge to Anglesey always leaves me with a feeling of excitement and anticipation. I spent my childhood here but now as a golfer, there’s an extra thrill to visiting Beaumaris and its iconic course at Henllys.
With spectacular views over the Menai Straits and Snowdonia, each hole is different and challenging, needing course management and good club selection.
Henllys with its challenging greens and tee shots is not a course to take for granted, and I always leave with a need to return.
Henllys is great for group golfing deals seven days of the week, when visiting take some time to say hi to Peter and David in the pro shop too, as friendly a pair of guys as you will ever meet.
They also stock the largest range of ladies golf clothing in N Wales.
