MG junior section sponsors Shires Junior Golf Tour finished their 2018 season and tour in fine style with a successful series of final events, culminating in a tense finale at Bedford GC.

Northampton Golf Club – Annual Shires Team Event

Sunday 26th August saw the Shires Junior Golf Tour set up at Northampton Golf Club for its annual and ever popular Team Event. Each team comprises a player from each category, which ensures an even spread of abilities and handicaps throughout the competition.  This makes for a fair and really good fun event, building team spirit and watching it grow on each hole all the way to the final putt.  The rain poured down but not even that could wash the smiles of the junior players away.  The weather clearly suited many of the golfers, given some of the awesome scores.

The warm welcome and very generous hospitality at Northampton Golf Club was much appreciated by everyone, in addition to the great condition of the course despite the rain.

Kirby Muxloe Golf Club

The Shires Junior Golf Tour headed for its first ever Tour visit to Kirby Muxloe Golf Club in Leicestershire on Sunday 9 September.  A warm welcome was extended by the Club, and its members and staff, to the entire Tour of golfers and parents and this event was much enjoyed by everyone. The course was absolutely beautiful.  Not even the strong winds that afternoon could hamper the scores of these intrepid golfing kids.

Elton Furze Golf Club

Well settled in back at school by now, no amount of homework could get in the way of the kids as Elton Furze Golf Club welcomed a large field for the penultimate event of the 2018 Shires Junior Golf Tour on Sunday 16 September.  During the afternoon the weather conditions were comfortable, however, this tricky course proved a challenge for even some of the more accomplished and experienced members of the Tour.  A great experience for them and definitely one to revisit!  Our thanks to the club for the welcome they extended to us.

The setting for this years Shires Junior Golf Tour Order of merit Grand Final was the superb Bedford Golf Club. 60 qualifying players from 5 divisions still had a chance to win a spot on the 2019 Shires Ryder cup team to play against the Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour.

The Overall winner of each division would also win  a £200.00 voucher towards golfing goods at Custom Lab Golf and K J Golfing Academy. A huge thank you goes out to both of our sponsors, Gavin Hay ( Custom Lab ) and Kegan Rhys Jamieson  ( K J Golf )

It could not have been closer, all 5 divisions went to the wire with just a few points dividing  the top 6 players.
