Scotland
Scotland’s Golf Coast was the host of the 2015 Scottish Open at Gullane Golf Club and in August 2016, the Paul Lawrie Match Play and Scottish Senior Open both took place at Archerfield Links, one of the host courses for the 2016 Scotland’s Golf Coast Festival.
Archerfield is one of 22 must-play golf courses along 30 miles of stunning coastline which forms Scotland’s Golf Coast, only 30 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Offering year-round golf, they are the sunniest and driest golfing destinations in Scotland and home to the world’s oldest continuously played course where we have offered Pure Golfing perfection since 1672.
These golf courses include the world’s oldest, Musselburgh Links, and some of the most admired, including Gullane, North Berwick, Dunbar and also the host of the 2013 Open Championship Muirfield.
East Lothian, a mecca of links golf and famous venues that have seen many international championships where golfing royalty have competed on the same courses as we do. Golf allows us to do that.
Our first trip was to Royal Musselburgh, a parkland course with its clubhouse originating in Norman times and the highly enjoyable course itself being one of the oldest in the UK.
Further trips took us to Craigielaw, Archerfield, Gullane, Dunbar and Longniddry. Their manager Bob is truly ‘Mr Golf East Lothian’, the company establishing a ‘cluster form’ of clubs in order to embrace all and promote the individual courses that can accommodate all golfing budgets.
From Muirfield to Musselburgh, all incredibly close together and all ready to provide you with golfing memories to last a lifetime.
A second trip with Carol had us staying at the Marine Hotel and visiting the Glen Golf Club. Literally the last on the coastal route of golf courses, an absolute must for the amazing views and its quirkiness, playing here is high on the list for MG in Scotland Part II.
